Welding Process

Main rebar diameters are increasing, with diameters reaching up to 50mm.

Stirrups use cold-drawn high-strength threaded steel with diameters reaching up to 16mm.

A 12-meter-long cage can weigh up to 8 tons.

Two main rebars are used side by side in radial or circumferential directions.

Different diameter main rebars can be used on the same circle according to load requirements, which can save materials.

These new requirements for cage connections have been put forward in production and construction work, aiming at low production costs, fast construction speed, and high construction quality.

Precautions for Welding Steel

Quality Issues: Weld seams are too short or uneven; there are large depressions or protrusions; there are bite edges; substandard electrodes; electrode stubs not removed; axial lines of connected steels do not match.

2 Reasons Analysis:

a) Inexperienced welders without passing a welder's examination.

b) No measurement after completing welds using an inflatable mold template for seam length.

c) Using substandard electrodes or choosing incorrect electrode sizes.

d) Not removing electrode stubs after completing welds using an inflatable mold template for seam length.

e) Pre-bending ends when connecting two welded steels does not ensure axial line consistency.

3 Prevention Measures:

a) Conduct trial welds before starting actual work based on site conditions after obtaining a qualified certificate from a professional certification body (such as CSWIP).

b) When using an inflatable mold template for seam connection during electric arc welding (EAW), it is recommended that both sides be welded simultaneously whenever possible.

c) During EAW with pre-bent ends connecting two steels being joined together at their end points priorly folded towards one direction so that axial lines align properly between interconnected steels while ensuring consistent orientation throughout fabrication steps involved in manufacturing these structures within structural engineering context relevant specifically pertinent here – thus ensuring highest level achievable performance reliability under stress & strain factors due environmental conditions like weather resistance etc., because we're talking about creating something strong enough withstand heavy loads imposed upon this structure over extended periods time through its lifespan usage scenario!
