在中国电力变压器领域，重庆ABB变压器有限公司 Recently won a 360 million Australian dollar order from Australia's TRANSEND power grid company for two 200MVA three-phase self-coupled power transformers, which will be delivered in early 2008. This follows the February contract with Singapore Energy Power Grid Company worth $400 million, and the March deal with Kuwait for a power transformer export contract. ABB China President & CEO Ruixi Ke said: "The consecutive export orders obtained by ABB China fully demonstrate that our products have been recognized by domestic and foreign customers." He added, "This shows that the products produced by ABB in China have become a strong carrier of 'Chinese manufacturing' and 'Chinese design', and ABB's continuous R&D in China has played an important role in its business development." With global research centers in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as R&D teams at its over 20 local Chinese enterprises, including nearly 50 professional designers at the leading edge of transformer design and calculation capabilities worldwide.

Ke emphasized: "All transformers exported to Singapore and Australia were designed and produced locally by our companies in Chongqing and Zhongshan." He continued: "China is continuously emphasizing the comprehensive enhancement of indigenous innovation capabilities. For enterprises like us with foreign investment backgrounds, it means achieving localization of R&D, technical innovation, and talent cultivation. Bringing advanced technologies from around the world into China to complete localized innovations and production before pushing our products onto the global stage - this is ABB China's strategy as well as our commitment to national development."

Currently, over 90% of ABB's business in China is achieved through locally produced products and services. Amongst its approximately 11,000 employees across all locations within mainland Greater China region (including Hong Kong), more than 99% are Chinese nationals.
